Ok so I have a 97 bk automatic. And I will be picking up a wrecked 06 sti from a friend for 1300 bucks. I know it's a deal. Its got an fmic and upgraded turbo. I need to know what I can use and what I need to swap over the whole drivetrain and powertrain and if there is anything else I would need to make this work. Like if Clutch lines, pedals, wiring harness and ecu's will swap right in. I read and saw that I would have to wire in taillights and such. And also how would I go about the dccd and everything

Everything needs to be swapped.

EVERYTHING!

06 STi runs on Drive-by-wire so pedal box all electrical, ecu, wiring harness, subframes etc..

Its some times easier to pull your BK harness and stuff the STi in and then wire in all your lighting and accessories after.

You should look at a few of the build threads on NASIOC.

Ok so everything needs swapped. Sorry I didn't get to read much. I'm posting and reading while at work on my phone lol. As for the subframe, will that bolt up directly or does it need shimmed and such. I'm going to have 2 weeks to do this and I wanna make sure I have everything ready for those two weeks. Also I can run the impreza clutch lines on my bk right?

I don't think so. the STi is 6-speed so your going to have to put everything thats for the 6MT into the car. nothing 5MT works with 6MT.

I am not sure about shimming the subframe. I have not seen anyone do this I do know that the endlinks mount points are different on the 07 but I couldn't tell you anymore then that.

do more research

from what I've read about swaps. you are going to need to merge harnesses. for things like hvac, lights. cruise. ect.
you need the legacy harness, for just about everything in the cabin.
while you need sti harness and ecu to run the motor, tubro. ect.
Not trying to discourage you, but you will probably need more then two weeks.

East Coast swaps can merge those harnesses for you. It will cost about $950, but that is the hardest part of the STI swap, IMHO.

WOW if that 1300 bucks is real, you got a hell of a deal there.

Take the plunge, it's totally worth it. I have a full drivetrain swap in my 98:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ht=jefe009

It's not easy. A lot of the suspension stuff on the front end (control arms, etc.) will need to be replaced. Kind of a 'learn as you go' sort of swap.

GLWS (good luck with swap!)

I would be trampling women and small children for a deal like that. Damn.

Good luck with the swap, keep a journal of what you do and what difficulties you run in to. And take a LOT of pics!
