About the Pass side corner light...... I took out the orange insert a while ago and broke the tab connecting to the support bracket..... so obviously you can't screw it in. I used a zip tie to hold it and it held until the accident, about 3 years. It has some moisture in it. You can see the hole I drilled for the zip tie. The other post is still good. Mickey Moused but it worked. I used to be a cert. subaru. tech. So ill have her fix soon

A grille will not protect your A/C condensor. If anything it's one more piece of metal that can go flying around in a fender bender and puncture it. I had that happen to me - minor fender bender, the bumper pushed the grill up and shattered, sending pieces straight into the condensor and ruining it.

Your grille is designed to protect your interior engine compartment while driving not crashing. If you get a rock (big enough to cause decent damage) thrown at grille it will save your components. What would you rather have happen a rock hit your 70.00 grille or your 300.00 A/C condensor (that will have to be recharged for yet more $$$)?
My grille punctured my A/C condensor also, but this was in an accident not while normally driving.
NOTE TO SELF : Don't Hit Stuff
Also, I guess you could drive around without a hood....... Do you want to argue that?

Also, I guess you could drive around without a hood....... Do you want to argue that? Actually your grill is design to let air in to cool your radiator. If it were design to protect it would be made from metal and have a better design to not let any rocks in.

Obvously it allows air flow. thats a no brainer, but you can not say that it does not protect the A/C Condensor at all....... thats my point. Well driving with no grille also has airflow. Thats why my new grille will have smaller holes. Grilles also help direct airflow.
What'd we learn today? A grille has a purpose. Who knew?
I took her for a ride today and it was like driving her for the first time. After I get the new grille and get the paint situation finished I will probaly be doing some engine upgrades. Does anyone know what the next best upgrade would be that doesnt include a turbo?
Enigne upgrades Intake STI Muffler w/ custom welded CB
Other Upgrades WRX Rims 04 Forester wahser nozzles (they spray mist instead of streams)
^^^^^^ I miss working for Subaru.... no more freebies^^^^^^ I know most of the upgrades, but whats best at this time?

Yes, I did drive my car like this: As far as mods go, are you going up to the WRX 17" wheels? The 16" wheels are going to be pretty much the same size/weight as your GT wheels, 16x6.5. Wheels and some good sticky tires is a good mod.

lol.... Never actually seen a redneck subaru driver Jey. Great stuff. I see you have a grille in that pic though.
I already have the 16in WRX rims, I traded with some kid that but new rims on his WRX back in 06', they just look better in my opinion. I'll figure it out.
I have to figure out how much paint is going to be anyways...... hood, front and rear bumpers need to be painted. I would like to get the whole car painted, but it is a 98'. I dont really want the paint job worth more then the car.

Maaco did my hood for $168. It's ok - 2 years later it looks worse than the rest of the 11 year old car But it's certainly a lot better than your home rattle can job. Bumpers are less of a big deal because they are plastic - heck, you can even go for the 2-tone Outback look with the unpainted bumpers. Chevrolet and Honda do it on their cars in the showroom...

Where are you driving where rocks that big get thrown up at your car? The holes in the stock grille are pretty big, so it'd have to be a pretty big rock to not get through. I'd be a lot more worried about the rest of my car getting hit like the windshield or the hood.
